Incident 2

  • Lying/Dishonesty — made false claim against community member

While working at Metro headquarters, Lieutenant Ensley falsely and maliciously accused a community activist–and high-profile critic of the Los Angeles Police Department–of having a criminal record and being arrested for battery.

These claims were entirely untrue.

Incident 3

A rookie LAPD officer, now a detective, has filed a lawsuit alleging he was sexually assaulted by fellow LAPD officers during a hazing incident in 2009. The detective claims LAPD Matthew Ensley was present during the assault.

The then rookie claims after a football team practice he was pressured to strip, verbally abused, and physically assaulted by over 30 officers, including a now-captain and other high-ranking officials.

The victim claims he was forced to strip naked, endure homophobic abuse, and was physically violated with a hard object. The incident was never reported out of fear of retaliation.

LAPD Chief Michel Moore stated an investigation is ongoing.
