Officer Jessica Solis shot her partner during a police response to a call about a man with mental illness in Hollywood who was threatening to do harm to himself.
Solis fired three shots: the first two were aimed at a dog, and the third was intended for the suspect but struck fellow officer Cristal Munoz-Preciado, who was spraying a fire extinguisher, obscuring Solis’ view.
The LAPD Commission determined that the third shot the hit her partner was done while Solis could not view the suspect.
